Ice Maker Repair

Clear-ice and standard Sub-Zero ice makers — no production, hollow cubes, overflow, and the water supply faults that get blamed on the module.

What we get called for

  • 01 No ice at all for several days with the arm down and the bin empty
  • 02 Hollow, undersized or cloudy cubes that melt within minutes
  • 03 Water running down the back of the freezer and freezing into a ramp
  • 04 A grinding noise every few hours as the harvest cycle stalls halfway

How the visit runs

The unit is read before it is opened: model and serial, current cabinet temperatures and the fault history. Then the sealed system goes under gauges, the defrost circuit and thermistors are metered, and airflow at the evaporator is measured. You get a written diagnosis and a firm price before anything is ordered or replaced.

Common parts ride on the van — evaporator fan motors, defrost heaters, thermistors, gaskets, inlet valves and the widespread control boards. Sealed-system components are ordered against your serial so the part arriving is the part that fits.

  1. Grinding every couple of hours as the harvest stalled halfway. I described the noise on the phone, he arrived with the right module already on the van, and it cycled normally inside the hour. The $89 came off the total.

  2. Water ran down the inside back wall and froze into a ramp under the ice drawer. The fill tube heater had failed. He replaced it, checked the fill volume and tidied up the mess unasked.

  3. Bin filling with one fused block instead of cubes. He said that usually points at overflow rather than the maker, and the water valve was indeed seeping past. New valve, bin stripped and cleaned, advice on travel.

Model number and a description of the fault is usually enough to narrow it before anyone is dispatched. Kirkland calls booked before 11:00 are normally seen the same day. The service call is $89 flat and comes straight off an approved repair.
